Privacy Policy

Effective October 17, 2026

Next Weekend ("the app") is made by Aventurine Consulting LLC, 1125 Maxwell Ln, Hoboken, NJ 07030 ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.

What we collect and why

Your account. You sign in with your mobile phone number and a one-time code sent by SMS (Firebase Authentication). We store your phone number, the name you enter, and your plan preferences (the kinds of places, events and activities you like). We use these to sign you in, to show your name to the people you plan with, and to suggest things you might enjoy. Now and then, someone on our team may text you at that number to thank you or ask what you think of Next Weekend. These are personal messages, not marketing, and you can ask us to stop at any time.

Contacts (optional). If you allow access, the app reads the contacts on your device so you can invite friends. To show which of your contacts already use Next Weekend, the app sends a one-way hash (SHA-256) of each selected phone number to our servers to check it against our member directory. We do not store your address book or those hashes; they are used only for that lookup. Your own phone number is kept in the directory as a hash so that friends can find you; deleting your account removes it. Invitations are sent as text messages from your own Messages app; we do not send SMS on your behalf.

Reports and blocks. If you report a message or a person in a group chat, we receive the report, the reported message and that person's recent messages in the same chat, so we can review it and act. If you block someone, we store that choice so we can hide their messages from you and stop notifications about them; the person you block is not told.

Location (optional, while you use the app). If you allow access, the app uses your device's precise location to find places, events and weather near you. Your coordinates are sent to our servers and to the place, event and weather providers listed below to fetch results. We do not keep a history of where you have been. A place you pick on the map is saved so the app can open there next time, and a plan's own location (the city or venue you chose for it) is saved with the plan.

Your city on our website. When you open our website, we look up your approximate location from your IP address, using MaxMind's GeoLite service, to show events and places in the nearest city we cover. It is a city-level estimate, used only for that, and we do not store your IP address for it. You can pick another city at any time.

Your plans and messages. Plans, stops, dates and times, invitations, RSVPs, group chat messages and the thumbs-up or thumbs-down you leave after a plan are stored on our servers and shown to the people you have invited to that plan (and to the organizer of a plan you joined).

Calendar (optional). If you allow access, the app can add a plan to your calendar. Access is write-only: we do not read your existing calendar.

Device and usage data. We collect a push notification token (so we can send you plan reminders and invitations), your app version, device model and operating system version, crash reports, performance measurements, and usage analytics linked to your account ID (which screens and features are used). We use these to run, secure and improve the app. This data is collected through Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring).

AI features. To find local events, read the activities you type and name your plans, we send your city, dates, interests and the words you type to OpenRouter, which passes them to Google (Gemini) and Perplexity. They never receive your name, phone number or contacts. Before you create an account, Explore already uses your city, date and interests this way. AI features are on by default and you agree to them when you sign up; you can turn them off at any time in Profile → AI features, and the app then works without them.

On our website (next-weekend.web.app). The website version of Next Weekend uses two services that the iPhone app does not. The Meta Pixel, from Meta Platforms, tells Meta when someone visits the website, works through the planning steps, creates an account or asks to hear when the app is out, so we can measure our ads and Meta can show them to people likely to find them useful. When you create an account on the website, the pixel also sends Meta a one-way hash of your phone number and name, made in your browser, so Meta can match the sign-up to the ad; Meta uses this information under its own data policy. PostHog, a product analytics service, receives the same steps. It does not record your screen. PostHog knows a signed-in visitor by their account ID only, never by name or phone number.

Email for the app's launch (website, optional). The Next Weekend app is on the App Store for iPhone, and the Android app is on its way. If you ask on the website to hear when the app is out, we store the email address you give us with your account and use it only to tell you when it is available. The Meta Pixel and PostHog never receive it. Deleting your account deletes it, and you can ask us to remove it at any time.

Purchases. Premium subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through in-app purchase. RevenueCat, a subscription service, keeps the record of your subscription for us: it receives your account ID (never your name or phone number), the purchase details Apple provides (the product, its status and expiry) and basic technical details such as the app version, and tells us whether Premium is active on your account. We never see or store your payment card details.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information for money. The iPhone app contains no advertising networks. The Meta Pixel on our website may count as "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising under some US state privacy laws; you can opt out as described under Your choices.

Cookies and similar technologies

The iPhone app uses no advertising cookies. On our website, a few items are kept in your browser because the site needs to work: your sign-in session and the app's own settings. Only on next-weekend.web.app, and only if your browser does not send a Global Privacy Control signal, the Meta Pixel and PostHog also keep identifiers there, such as Meta's _fbp cookie and PostHog's visitor ID, to measure our ads and how visitors move through sign-up. You can clear or block them in your browser's settings, or turn on Global Privacy Control.

The location map on our website is provided by Google Maps, and loading it sends your browser's IP address to Google, which also serves the map's own fonts. The website's other fonts come from our own hosting.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account in the app: this removes your profile, your directory entry, the plans you organize and your memberships in other plans. Messages you sent in other people's plans may remain visible to them without your name attached. Copies in our backups are removed within 30 days. Purchase records are kept for as long as Apple and tax rules require.

Your choices

Children

Next Weekend is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher age required where you live), and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and where data is processed

Data travels over encrypted connections (TLS) and is stored with Google Firebase in the United States, protected by access rules and Firebase App Check. No system is perfectly secure; keep your phone and sign-in code to yourself.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the effective date. Material changes will be announced in the app.
